Pinot Grigio
Not many people are aware about this ‘gray’ grape variety of wine. The grapes used in the preparation of this wine are ‘Pinot Gris’. Pinot Grigio belongs to the family of white wine and is of 3 types. Yes, Pinot Grigio does house 3 varieties of itself. The origination of this specific wine is Italy but one can now find it’s plantations in South Australia, Tasmania, Washington, Marlborough etc. The three types of Pinot Grigio are- Dry and Mineral flavored, Dry and Fruity and Sweet and Fruity. One may easily find the first two varieties depending on the different regions of France.
The Mineral and Dry type can be found in the Northern parts of Italy. The grapes of this type are high in acidity, saline and have a simple taste. One can easily enjoy this wine with French fries, Mussels etc. The Fruity and Dry derives its flavors from yellow apple, lemon and white peach. They are less acidic and contain the summer friendly freshness along with an oily texture. It is easy going in food pairings. The last but not the least, Sweet and Fruity Pinot Grigio can only be found in the Alsace region of France. It has flavors of sweet lemon candy, honey, honey crisp apples etc.
